What are Medicare Advantage Plans?
Medicare Advantage plans are health plans offered through private health insurance companies that contract with Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans cover all of the Medicare Part A and Part B benefits. They are sometimes referred to as Medicare Part C. Most also provide the benefits of Medicare Supplement plans, provide prescription drug benefits, and may provide benefits not available through Medicare, such as vision and dental coverage.
The vast majority of Medicare Advantage plans are administered through HMOs or PPOs, which means they have networks of health care providers you may be required to use.
